Our mother was Jane Alice Hines who was born to Paul Daniel Hines and Irene Belle Mankamyer.
Paul's parents were Harry Hines and Harriet Veter Thomas.
Paul grew up in Philadelphia, and after high school he attended Williamson Free Trade School located in Media, Middletown Township Delaware County Pennsylvania. After Paul graduated in 1924 from the trade school, Paul took a job with a tire factory in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. While living and working in this area Paul met Irene Belle Mankamyer from Myersdale Somerset County.
The Mankamyer family emigrated from Germany to Philadelphia in 1857, and immediately settled in Somerset County Pennsylvania.
Paul's mother, Harriet Vetter Thomas, was from East Mauch Chunk (present day Jim Thorp), Carbon County Pennsylvania. Hattie’s parents were Daniel S. Thomas and Martha Jane Kishbaugh.
The Thomas family came to Pennsylvania about 1842 from the Merthyr Tydfil in the historic county of Glamorgan Wales England. The Kishbaugh family came to Carbon County Pennsylvania from Sussex County New Jersey in the early 19th century.
