Here’s the research paper on John Luxon (1788 - 1842)

All of our research papers on these families are in Adobe “pdf” formats, and can be downloaded.

The following information on the Luxon [1] family is based on two primary records:

1. The marriage between James Ellis who married Mary Ann Luxon on September 24th 1836, witnessed by John Julyan and William Gilbert at the Parish Church of Holy Trinity in St. Austell[2] Cornwall England. [3]

a.  James and Mary Ann Ellis's children were baptized in St Austell England.

2. Mary Ann Luxon was born August 9th 1816 in Cornwall England. [4]

a.  The name Mary Ann was always used in all the records, not Mary or Ann.

b.  We assume Mary Ann was the reason for baptizing her children in the region of St Austell in Cornwall England.

c.  We also assume Mary Ann was baptized on December 22nd 1816. [5]  Her parents were John Luxen and Jenifer Rous, and Mary would have been born in the clay mining village of Carn Rosemary St Austell region of Roche in Cornwall England.

Roche parish is located on high ground 5 miles north of St Austell, surrounded by moorland wastes. The clay-mining villages of Stenalees and Bugle (also once known as Carn Rosemary) are to the south-east. Tin was also once mined on the Goss Moor. Both the rivers Par and Fal rise in this parish. The chief villages were Churchtown, Belovely, Tregoss and Tresease.

John Luxon (1788-1842)

John Luxon was born about 1788 in Cornwall England.

John Luxon married Jenifer (a.k.a. Jane) Rous on December 1st 1811 in the clay mining village of Roche Cornwall England. [6]  Jenifer was born to Joseph and Jane Rous, and baptized October 10th 1790 in Roche Cornwall England. [7]

John was a tin miner, and the family lived in the clay mining village of Carn Rosemary St Austell region of Roche Cornwall England. [8]  Sometime after the birth of their daughter Rachel was born in 1833, the family moved to Gun Barrow in the district of Roche. In 1840 the family lived in Gun Barrow, a small mining village in the district of Roche.  [9]

Gun Barrow is no longer a village, it was in the district of Roch.
