Our paternal great grandfather William Henry Graham 1st married Dellia Catherine Killinger on February 5th 1896 at Dellia's family home in Upper Strasburg Letterkenny Township Franklin County Pennsylvania.

Dellia was born January 16th 1870 to John Wesley Killinger who was born May 1843, and Susan Stack who was born August 1856.

William and Dellia had one son, Norman Wesley Graham. Norman lived in Letterkenny Township Franklin County and Hopewell Township Cumberland County Pennsylvania. He went to Kansas in 1916, where he married Hilda Wilamena Pigorsch of Hope Township Kansas on January 10th 1920 in Abilene Dickenson County Kansas. Norm and Hilda went on to have a very large family.

Before William and Delia divorced, William had a child with Sarah Greenawalt, who he married before the divorce was final. The story surrounding this event is interesting.

William and Sarah had one son, Calvin Stoey Graham, our grandfather.

We do have a few photos of Norma and Hilda Graham's family.

Norman Wesley Graham (1896-1948)

Norman Wesley Graham was born December 4th 1896 in Strasburg Franklin County Pennsylvania [1] to William Henry Graham and Dellia Catherine Killinger. Dellia was born June 16th 1870 at the Killinger family home to John Wesley Killinger and Susan Stake.  [2]

Dellia's parents were John W. Killinger who was born May 19th 1845 [3]  in Southampton Township Franklin County Pennsylvania. John lived and worked most of his life in the vicinity of Roxbury Pennsylvania. John Killinger died on Tuesday August 12th 1919 in a hospital in New York of a lingering illness and complications of its diseases. [4]  John was married to Susan Stack [5]  who was born August 1856.

William Henry Graham and Dellia Catherine Killinger were married on February 6th 1896. [6]  In 1899 the Killinger family moved to Baltimore Maryland. Dellia and Norman also went to Baltimore, where they lived with the Killinger family in the 3rd Precinct Baltimore Maryland. [7]  At the time William lived in Shippensburg Cumberland County Pennsylvania.

After Dellia's divorce with William was finalized July 11th 1902, [8]  she married Grover Cleveland Hockenberry on June 15th 1911. Grover was from Doylesburg Fannett Township area of Franklin County Pennsylvania.

On Grover's and Della's marriage application; Della indicates the cause of her divorce from William was desertion on July 11th 1902. This confirms the divorce record between William and Dellia. I believe our Great-grandmother Sadie Greenawalt was the reason for the desertion. William married Sadie Greenawalt on October 15th 1901, before his divorce from Dellia was finalized.

Della would be Grover's 3rd wife. Grover was previously married; first on May 12th 1906 to Elizabeth Thomas of Doylesburg, [9]  and then on November 25th 1910 to Nora Hockenberry of Doylesburg - probably a cousin. On the application Grover identified his first marriage (unnamed woman) on May 17th 1907, and his first wife's death on December 16th 1908. [10]  On Grover’s marriage application with Della, he didn't list his second marriage to Nora on November 25th 1910, but he did identify his marriage to Elizabeth Thomas on May 12th 1906, and her death on December 16th 1909. [11]

The dates for Grover's 1st wife Elizabeth's death is mixed up. On his application with his second wife Nora, he identified his first wife, Elizabeth Thomas's death as December 16th 1908, and on the marriage application with Della, he listed his first wife, Elizabeth Thomas's death as December 16th 1909. We figure his memory was at fault for the difference between 1908 and 1909. [12]

Dellia had only one child, which was born to William Henry Graham. She had no children with Grover Hockenberry. Dellia died in June 1963 and she was laid to rest in the Ridge Church of the Brethren and Cemetery in Middle Spring Newburg Area Cumberland County Pennsylvania. [13]

Sometime before 1916, Norman left Letterkenny Township Franklin County for Kansas. According to his children, he went to Kansas because of the excitement of the times. Norman signed up for the World War I draft while living in Ramona, Hope Township Dickenson County Kansas. [14]  He enlisted as a private in the Kansas 10th Mountain Division, 41st Infantry.

Norman would met and marry Hilda Wilhelmina Pigorsch on January 10th 1920 in Abilene Kansas. [15]  Hilda was born September 14th 1901 in Hope Township Dickenson County Kansas to Augustus Wilhelm (William) and Anna Pigorsch who were both born in Germany.

After they married Norman and Hilda lived with Hilda's brother Otto, and his wife Lizzie in Dickenson County Kansas. [16]  While in Kansas their first son, Eugene, would be born in 1920. They would later move back to Newburg, Hopewell Township Cumberland County Pennsylvania. They lived next door to Norman's mother Della (Killinger) Hockenberry and her 2nd husband Grover.

Normand and Hilda lived at 333 State Road Hopewell Township Cumberland County when they had their next six children. Norman worked his entire life for the Railroad until he died on February 26th 1948 [17]  while living in Elmo Kansas. Hilda died March 10th 1976. [18]  They were both laid to rest Elmo, Jefferson Township Dickenson County Kansas.
